Workday Foundation for Workforce Development
The Workday Foundation is dedicated to elevating human potential through the power of purposeful work and meaningful connection in the AI era.
In a world rapidly reshaped by new technologies, the Workday Foundation invests in solutions that continuously build skills for in-demand careers, deepen social connections, and empower individuals and communities to remain resilient in a rapidly changing world.
The Workday Foundation has awarded over $50M USD in grants globally since 2013.
The Foundation supports workforce development ecosystems, including Irish partnerships with non-profits like Jobcare, Open Doors, Fasttrack into Technology, Generation, and INCO, which provide tuition-free training in high-demand tech and AI skills for underemployed workers. The documentary UNTAPPED: Closing America's Opportunity Gap, executive-produced by Workday, further amplifies this mission and advocates for the skills-first imperative.
“AI is rapidly reshaping our workforce, calling for an agile and intentional approach to future-proof careers. While AI’s potential is immense, it is through our collective action that we can unlock its promise and build a future of opportunity for all.” – Carrie Varoquiers, Chief Impact Officer, Workday
In addition to the Workday Foundation, Workday Ireland has supported programs that explicitly advance diversity, such as its partnership with TU Dublin. These programs support students from all backgrounds, enhancing digital literacy, and promote fairness in STEM fields.
Through its partnerships with TU Dublin and Trinity College Dublin, Workday Ireland has demonstrated its commitment to strengthening the talent pipeline and educational attainment in Ireland. Workday has invested $2 million over seven years to establish a pioneering research chair in Technology & Society.
Through its Giving & Doing program, Workday employees logged almost 51,000 volunteer hours in FY25 globally, including 7,000 hours in Ireland.
Workday also engages in a Skills-Based Organization (SBO) approach, emphasizing skills over traditional degrees. The SBO model helps democratize opportunity for individuals from non-traditional backgrounds, which often include historically marginalized groups.
Workday uses VIBE Governance, championed through Employee Belonging Councils (EBCs). EBCs provide forums for employees to foster inclusion, amplify belonging, and offer strategic ideation.
As of the end of FY25, 28% of Workmates were members of one or more EBCs, reflecting high employee participation.
