Workday Foundation for Workforce Development

Workday's community contributions are tangible through its significant Dublin operations, strategic academic partnerships with measurable outcomes like the TU Dublin Chair, and active local volunteerism, all reinforcing strong US-Ireland corporate, social, and educational ties.

Through the Workday Foundation, the organization directs its philanthropy and resources to empower communities worldwide, focusing on workforce development and green economy skills.

The Foundation invested $2 million in total grant money in FY25 to support workforce development ecosystems. It highlights partnerships with non-profits like Jobcare, Open Doors, Fasttrack into Technology, Generation and INCO supporting tuition-free training in high-demand tech and AI skills for underemployed workers.

Through their partnership Workday funds programs like TrailblazHER to promote fairness in STEM fields and establishing a pioneering research chair of Technology & Society.

Workday also utilizes its Giving & Doing program to promote community engagement in Ireland, demonstrating a shared commitment to social causes. The dedication of employees resulted in almost 51,000 volunteer hours logged in FY25 globally and 7,000 hours completed in Ireland, translating to $1.17 million donated to nonprofits through volunteer programs but a further 200,000 of this went to Irish based charities to support them.

This included:

  • Volunteerism: Workmates in Dublin actively participate in community events, such as a community cleanup that collected 65 bags of trash in FY25.

  • Local Philanthropy: The Dublin Tennis Club, a Workclub, hosted ""Coffee Mornings"" to raise funds for Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, connecting employee culture with local charitable giving as well as supporting Workforce development training and education with local partners.

  • Talent Practices: The adoption of a skills-first talent strategy at Workday aligns with the modern goal of closing the opportunity gap and is reflected in their Irish educational partnerships, promoting inclusion and decent work.

Workday engages a Skills-Based Organization (SBO) approach: By emphasizing skills over traditional degrees, the SBO model helps to democratize opportunity for individuals from non-traditional backgrounds, which often includes historically marginalized groups.

Workday also has a Value Inclusion & Belonging for Everyone™ program is Workday's specific structure for promoting diversity, inclusion, and belonging globally.

VIBE is embedded in the company through initiatives like Employee Belonging Councils (EBCs), which are open to all employees and advocate for belonging across Workday's global communities.
