Paul Sweetman
AmCham CEO
Paul is CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, leading AmCham to ensure Ireland is a location where US FDI thrives, alongside supporting the growth of Irish companies as they expand in the US.
Paul joined AmCham from the public affairs consultancy Instinctif Partners, where he was Managing Partner for Ireland and a member of the UK and Ireland Leadership Team. Prior to this, Paul worked with Ibec for 17 years, holding numerous roles over that time including Director of Financial Services Ireland, Director of Technology Ireland, Head of Transport & Public-Private Partnership Policy and, Environment Policy Executive.
Paul has also served as a board member of Digital Europe, Fastrack into IT (FIT), Gaisce - The President’s Award and the Data Governance Board for Ireland’s Public Service. In addition, over his 20-year career, Paul has chaired numerous high-level government-industry policy and project committees.
He is a Chartered Engineer, holding a bachelors in engineering from UCD and a masters in environmental engineering from Virginia Tech, USA. Paul also holds a Professional Certificate in Governance from the Institute of Public Administration, a Certificate in ESG from UC Berkeley Law and has completed leadership programmes at TU Dublin and Oxford University.
