
Gerry has actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to strengthen US-Ireland relations. Through participation in trade missions, business forums, and bilateral meetings, he has advocated for stronger economic and commercial ties between the two nations.
Gerry previously served as the West Region Champion for the Action Plans for Jobs strategy in Ireland where he strongly promoted the need for balanced regional spread of the economic recovery and has worked closely with the IDA over the years.
Gerry’s commitment to gender inclusion and diversity has seen Medtronic’s Parkmore Galway site grow from one with 10 different nationalities to there now being 65 nationalities represented across all levels of the business in Ireland. Having worked in Ireland, the US, Canada, South America, China, South-East Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Gerry has developed diverse and high performing teams across all these locations and with exposure to each new culture, he has adapted his leadership style and brings his learnings to his global leadership teams. In order to ensure visibility and growth opportunities for all employees, Gerry’s team have developed a range of Employee Resource Groups ranging from the Women’s Network, African Descent Network, ABLEd, Young Professional and the Traveller Action Group.

For over three decades, Gerry Kilcommins has made significant contributions to US-Ireland relations. Through his innovative and strategic leadership in the medical technology industry and his contribution to business associations and policy issues, he has strengthened the economic and diplomatic ties between the United States and Ireland.
In previous roles at Medtronic, Gerry has led teams of over 15,000 people globally including more than 4,000 Irish-based employees and 5,000 US-based employees across seven states. Collaboration across Gerry’s network of sites has led to significant advancements in manufacturing and in the use of technologies that have improved patient care and treatment outcomes. These advancements have not only benefited healthcare systems in both the US and Ireland, but under Gerry’s leadership, Medtronic has also demonstrated the ease of cooperation and the complementary innovative strengths of the two countries.
